5 Tips to Play Professional Soccer and Land a Tryout

So, you’ve practiced and trained and you are now playing for your local soccer club. But you are still quite far from achieving your goal and landing a spot in a major club. In fact, you are not even quite sure how to get there in the first place.

There are of course a number of ways that you can pursue this dream of yours, but some help and direction would go a long way, wouldn’t it? In this article, we share some handy tips on how you can get noticed and be considered to play a trial at one of the big clubs in the country.

Join Soccer Camps

This will, of course, come at a minimal fee, but it is still a viable option. There are companies out there looking for new talent to join their ranks, and these companies host soccer camps and trial days.

Simply enroll, pay the fee and play against major clubs in the hope of being noticed by a scout.

Join a Private Academy

Once again, you will have to pay a nominal fee to join such private academies, and they aren’t too cheap either. The upside is however that you’ll be training full-time, and get the opportunity to strut your stuff in front of scouts looking for talented athletes.

Find a Coach or Mentor

If you are playing for a local club already, or if you have joined a private academy, focus on developing your skills and building a relationship with your coach. Your coach will be able to guide you in the right direction, encourage you to perform better and inspire you.

They will also be able to notice your talent, and if they believe you have what it takes, they can make sure you are noticed by scouts and that you get your fair trial.

Being Noticed by a Scout

This option might be a bit of a long shot, but it is possible. First, you’ll have to play for a prominent local team and win a couple of matches. Once the team works their way up the ranks, you’ll get the opportunity to play in a tournament or prominent competition.

These are usually attended by talent scouts, which gives you the opportunity to show what you are capable of.

Making Contact

If you believe you have what it takes to play professionally, and you are confident about your skills, this is another viable option. It also gets things rolling a bit faster. You can contact a club you want to join directly.

We have to point out that whatever you send them has to be unique and grab their attention as these clubs receive a lot of requests from players like yourself daily.

Needless to say, you’ll have to be in the best shape possible if you want to play professionally. Make sure you’ve got the support of friends and family in pursuing your dream and that you believe in yourself. Good luck!
